Tabatha Jones, Office Manager/Bookkeeper, has been with Schurmer and Wood since July of 2015. Tabatha brings over 16 years of office management and accounting experience, with over 11 years of law firm management experience. Tabatha started her legal career as a legal assistant in a fast pace civil litigation firm where she quickly became the firm administrator. Besides being the office manager/bookkeeper, Tabatha also has her Paralegal Certificate.
Originally from San Diego, Tabatha moved to Ventura in 2014 and currently resides in Oak View with her husband Josh and son Jameson.
Sal Barragan has been working for Schurmer & Wood for the last five years as a client services representative. He plays an integral role in our law firm, making the jobs of our attorneys and associate attorneys easier by assisting with client relations and making our clients feel at home from the moment they first call us. In turn, the work Sal does here benefits our clients by enabling our attorneys to serve them even better.
Sal has been a part of the Ventura County community for more than 30 years, so working at our Oxnard law firm feels like connecting with real friends whenever a client steps in. Sal Barragan completed his professional education at Ventura College, and he is passionate about supporting his community in any way he can. He also brings incredible business insight and organizational skills as a 12-year Business Network International (BNI) member.
In the past, Sal has been asked to speak on a number of various occasions, including hosting a radio spot for a local station. In his spare time, Sal likes to garden, hike, and help out with his daughters’ cheerleading and sports interests, as well as even hosting local little league teams.
Ellie has nearly ten years of paralegal experience. She has worked in multiple areas of law, including bankruptcy, family, employment, and personal injury. She has an Associates in Paralegal Studies from Kaplan College and a Bachelors in Business Administration from Fresno Pacific University. What she loves most about working for a plaintiff’s firm is being able to help the people in her community, especially when up against big businesses and insurance companies. Aside from her paralegal work, Ellie also enjoys photography, multimedia, graphic, and web design, and music.
Christina R. Medina, started her legal career in 1996 as a receptionist which transformed into her earning a Paralegal Certificate from Oxnard College. She is currently a member of Ventura County Paralegal Association and NALA and is a Notary Public. Christina resides with her husband and children in Ventura county.
Christina has been with Schurmer and Wood since December 2017.
Yuri Arteaga has been with the firm since July of 2017. Yuri is Schurmer and Wood’s case worker and is responsible for working up files pre-litigation. She obtained her A.A. in Paralegal Studies from Santa Barbara Business College in 2017. Yuri is fluent in English and Spanish. Yuri was raised in Los Angeles and currently resides in Simi Valley with her two children.
Joey Castellanos was born and raised in Oxnard, CA. Joey graduated from Pacifica High School, while attending there; he took an extra-curricular Law Enforcement Academy class taught by a police officer at Oxnard High School, as well as a Criminal Justice Class taught by a lawyer at the Career Education Center in Camarillo. Joey is currently studying Paralegal Studies, and is striving to become a prosecutor.
Krystal was born and raised in Oxnard, California. Krystal attended Channel Islands High School and studied Business Administration at Ventura College. She lives in Oxnard with her daughter Mia.
Krystal is fluent in English and Spanish often acts as Schurmer and Wood’s interpreter.
